TRIVIA:

Actor Brian Thompson's appearance in this episode led to a continuing friendship with David Hasselhoff. He told Empire magazine: "I still play golf with him. Although the last time he sang through every hole. That was one of the funnier rounds I've ever played." (Empire #142, April 2001)

At the airport terminal at the opening of the episode, there is a message over the P.A. system for Robert Ewing -- one of the series co-producers. He's also paged in the hotel lobby in the earlier episode KNIGHT STRIKE.

This episode makes use of stock footage from DEADLY MANEUVERS and Knight Strike as Michael and K.I.T.T. try to navigate through the deadly perimeter of the Deep Sleep installation.

Jack Starrett previously appeared in the episodes THE TOPAZ CONNECTION and K.I.T.T. THE CAT. Susan Blu and Robbie Rist were regularly employed as voice-over artistes in cartoons.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

Casting decisions led to some interesting changes for the characters in this script. Nick is described as "a fifteen-year-old hotshot with an eye for the ladies", although he later reveals he hasn't been on a single date. Calvin Holmes is described as "tall, thin, [with] the ascetic look of a prophet", while at one stage Zurich is said to be "a kind soul caught in a dilemma."

Flight 34 disappeared from radar after Zurich attached a futuristic jamming device to the controls.

Michael and K.I.T.T. aren't working alone in the script. It is explained that the President assembled an intragovernmental task force to aid them; they pull out when it's decided the mission is suicide.

Small cuts were made to K.I.T.T.'s interaction with Sheriff Amos during the episode and Tag.
