TRIVIA:

This episode is the first under new executive producer Robert Foster. It breaks the pattern of previous stories, becoming slightly more serious in tone. It also introduces K.I.T.T.'s new LED voice modulator, which Michael thinks is "Nice... real nice."

Sam Vlahos returns in the second season episode Blind Spot. Arell Blanton also appears in the episode Mouth of the Snake.

The third Knight Rider novel was based on this episode.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

K.I.T.T.'s new-look voice box isn't flagged in the script. His mention of it was added later in production.

Cut scenes include Michael reviewing K.I.T.T.'s files on Ricky and D.D.; K.I.T.T. analyzing license plates at Ricky's party; and K.I.T.T. locating Roberto Laguna's car in Gatesville, Texas, just as Devon finally gets through to Michael on the auto phone.

A couple of scripted lines missing from the episode turn up in the Teaser; Devon tells Michael that the Nunn X-19 rifle is to other weapons "what K.I.T.T. is to a conventional car," and Michael tells K.I.T.T. to "Hang onto your fenders... this could be tough!"
