TRIVIA:

David Hasselhoff on Trust Doesn't Rust: "It was like K.I.T.T. meets his nemesis, it was like Jekyll and Hyde, it was awesome."

Stunt Co-ordinator Jack Gill on Trust Doesn't Rust: "K.A.R.R. was a place where we could really expand on an evil part to [Knight Rider]. Now we could have the car do things that K.I.T.T. would never do; attack people and try and run over things, because that's what K.A.R.R. would do: he's in destruction mode, he's going to run through everything we can think of."

Actor William Sanderson on Trust Doesn't Rust: "There was a female extra on the set. I was dressed in character, which included a bottle of whiskey in a paper bag. I was relaxed and preparing to play the role of a drunk. Months later, a buddy of mine met this same girl in the Hard Rock Café. When she found out that I was a friend of his, she commented to my friend, 'I worked with him once - at 10 AM in the morning, he was dead drunk!' The funny thing was that I didn't even drink!"

Despite apparently meeting his end at the conclusion of this episode, K.A.R.R. returns in the third season story K.I.T.T. Vs K.A.R.R..

Peter Cullen (Voice of K.A.R.R.) is an accomplished voice over artist, providing voices for such well-known cartoons as the Transformers.

Bonnie tells us of K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R.'s only vulnerable spot in this episode -- a dead-on shot from a laser to the front scanner which would leave the vehicle an "immobilized hunk of metal." K.I.T.T. suffers a laser shot to the scanner in the episode Knight Strike. Fortunately, Michael is able to drive the car to safety, and Bonnie is on hand to make the necessary repairs.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

K.I.T.T. and K.A.R.R.'s scripted "reunion" is slightly cut in the episode -- a significant change, since during the Tag K.I.T.T. was to play it back on his monitor (also cut), revealing his sadness at being one of a kind again. In the scene, K.A.R.R. tells K.I.T.T. that being one of a kind is special, but to be two of a kind "is special also." K.I.T.T. believes that being two of a kind is "even more special."
