TRIVIA:

This episode sees the birth of K.I.T.T.'s newfound self-consciousness, perhaps caused by the events of the previous episode JUNK YARD DOG. Here he begins to question his worth; in the later episode KNIGHT OF THE JUGGERNAUT he becomes more concerned about his physical appearance.

At the beginning of this episode, Michael and K.I.T.T. are returning from a successful assignment in New York. Writer Gregory Dinallo would reuse this scenario in his later episode OUT OF THE WOODS.

Clu Gulager's character Gene Hanson is named for the uncredited writer of the previous episode, Junk Yard Dog. Gene Hanson, writer, also scripted episodes of MacGyver.

Stunt performer Jack Gill makes another appearance in this episode, as the doomed driver of the limousine. He previously appeared in the episodes INSIDE OUT, RETURN TO CADIZ and RING OF FIRE. Robin Dearden also appeared in the episode GIVE ME LIBERTY... OR GIVE ME DEATH.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

The UTCV is described as follows: "Urban Terrorist Control Vehicle -- a cross between a tank and an armored personnel carrier; formidable looking; sporting turrets, gun mounts." Lilah describes it as "The ultimate in urban terrorist control."

At several points in this episode, David Hasselhoff altered Michael's lines; he originally told K.I.T.T. his worth would have "plummeted like a rock" in the underground nuclear test scenario (in the episode he tells him "We wouldn't have to worry"); "Let's go get me [Michael] the job" becomes "Let's go get the job"; and his response to picking the lock (K.I.T.T. tells him "That's illegal") -- he replies, "So is the way I parked" -- becomes "So is the way we parked." All the changes serve to emphasize the team relationship between Michael and K.I.T.T., and aren't confined to this script -- changes of this nature can be found all through the series.
