TRIVIA:

This episode is essentially Knight Rider's homage to the film E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial. At one point during the episode, K.I.T.T. mistakenly calls Doug "Elliot" (the name of that film's human protagonist). Coincidentally, this episode was originally entitled K.I.T.T. Phone Home.

In this episode, K.I.T.T.'s CPU service port is located under the car. In the fourth season episode KILLER K.I.T.T. it is located inside the car, under the dash.

Bonnie includes 5000 MBs of added information in K.I.T.T.'s new memory.

Like K.I.T.T. in this episode, Michael lost his memory the previous season in the episode KNIGHTMARES.

Lenore Kasdorf would go on to guest star in the fourth season's FRIGHT KNIGHT, while Bill Cross previously appeared in the first season episode INSIDE OUT.

SCRIPT TO SCREEN:

The opening sequence of the episode was reshuffled; the script begins with Devon and Bonnie at the Nitro-Plastique demonstration, while the episode begins with Michael and K.I.T.T. setting the scene.

The script specifies that Korso's 4-Wheeler has a super-charger. In the episode the criminals burn nitrous oxide.

K.I.T.T. originally scanned Doug when he first left Michael, right after the voltage surge wiped his memory banks.

A dowdy butterfly collector is stunned to see a display of K.I.T.T.'s capabilities as Doug takes the car for a joyride.

In a cut line, Doug tells K.I.T.T. if he could drive him to school, he'd go every day.
